About The Role
The primary functions of this role include recruiting, enrolling and coaching students. You will be responsible for working with a wide range of students providing them with the personalized, 1:1 support they need to complete their college degree as quickly and affordably as possible. This often includes sharing details of the program, application submission support, FAFSA completion assistance, academic support, motivation, and accountability, problem-solving, and referrals to other resources.

The ideal candidate for this role has experience working in a start-up environment, building initiatives from the ground up, and taking ideas from thoughts to implementation.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Enrollment (40%)

  • Assist Senior Recruitment Manager with all facets of recruitment and enrollment including but not limited to:
  • Cross-training on all duties
  • Handle initial call backs to interested candidates
  • Assist with financial aid walk throughs
  • Assist with questions or follow-up calls with undecided candidates
  • Assist with scheduling meetings with prospective students
  • Manage, plan and handle logistics of events

Student Coaching & Barrier Mitigation (40%)

  • Build strong relationships with each student you work with to support them in their academic progress and goals (This often involves reviewing an academic project to ensure clarity before they start, reviewing work that needs to be revised and resubmitted to offer suggestions and guidance)
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Director of Degree Attainment to ensure all students are making adequate daily and weekly progress towards Associate or Bachelor’s degree completion by reviewing aggregate daily/weekly data on student progress
  • Assist academically and/or economically disadvantaged individuals to obtain a post secondary degree
  • Ensure they have the proper wrap-around supports to successfully complete their degree such as: access to technology, childcare, transportation and other needs as they arise
  • Outreach to current students to schedule coaching and information sessions
  • Provide inspirational emails, supportive resources, and encouragement
  • Assist with resume writing and career development

Logistics and Operations (20%)

  • Run day-to-day operations for study space
  • Work with ED and partner organizations to establish/maintain mini-centers in targeted communities
  • Assist with the launch of sites and the implementation of wraparound supports

Other

  • Degree Forward is an entrepreneurial start-up organization so there will be many opportunities to take on diverse responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

Experience

  • Experience managing multiple projects under pressure and deadlines
  • Experience working with academically and economically disadvantaged students
  • Data management experience a plus
  • Experience supporting students with the FAFSA application process
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Skills

  • Proven entrepreneurial abilities, creativity, initiative, and energy to build new programs
  • Well-developed data analysis, customer service, and organizational skills, with the ability to quickly assess the profile and needs of various prospective students and tailor our message and process to them as appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize and express ideas in a clear, succinct, accurate, and compelling manner 
  • Proven outcomes-focused problem solver and strategic thinker
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
